SUMMARY: Wesley in the alternate universe of 'Birthday', in the months immediately following the loss of his arm. [Wesley, Angel, OMC, Kate Lockley, hints of Wesley/OMC]
NOTES: This is a complete novel but it doesn't catalogue the whole of the time period leading to alt!Wesley's reunion with Cordelia in 'Birthday'; Gunn doesn't appear and Angel's decline is not yet greatly apparent. However, nothing is left hanging that was not already a part of the mystery of this alternate universe to begin with.
This was originally posted some years ago and in retrospect I think it needs this warning: Wesley starts the story missing an arm and destitute and finishes the story missing an arm and destitute, and he is probably the character who comes out of this the most unscathed.

I noticed that there are masses of broken links to this fic around, including most of mine, so I've uploaded it to AO3 for easier access (with a bunch more warnings than it ever had originally when posted as a WIP).
I'd probably write this very differently now, but it was still a labour of love at the time.
