I'm still concerned about my ability to write any more in my life's current climate, because this fic ended up being a channel for quite a lot of feelings. But nonetheless, it's a reasonable length fic and the first thing I've written since the accident, so yay?

TITLE: White Noise

SUMMARY: "This place," Duke said, hands fidgeting on the wheel as he drove them down toward the flat intertidal whiteness, paled from the salt and sun exposure. "There's something about this place, now. I like lonely areas, but this is giving me the creeps."
"Me, too." Audrey shifted at Nathan's side. "Nathan."
"Don't like it much," Nathan mumbled.
"You are weird today."
NOTES: Written for the darkfic exchange for Phoenixdragon, the prompt being "existential horror". I couldn't resist giving this one a shot, though I'm not sure if I'll have hit the target or not for such a grand esoteric concept. I was intrigued by the idea of a horror or darkfic where the primary motifs are open spaces and brightness.

TITLE: Conversations With Ghosts

SUMMARY: Nathan's Trouble came back gradually, a little each day ever since he walked alone down the armoury hill and left his heart behind. A few days after he finally awoke with no sensation left in his body, they found the first corpse with aether-smudged eyes.
Now he faces questions he never wanted to ask. Are the Troubles coming back? Is the apparition of Duke seen in Haven responsible for the killings? Can Croatoan's reach extend beyond the walls of the new Barn, and even death itself?
PAIRING: Duke/Nathan, Audrey/Duke/Nathan
NOTES: written for PhoenixDragon in the After Forever post-finale fic exchange: Duke isn't dead, but isn't technically alive, either. Nathan had to make a choice, Duke was not that choice. But he feels haunted and wonders if he made the right one - as attacks on Haven begin by a serial killer and Duke is the obvious suspect, even as he is not really there to defend himself.
This story is set as an alternative to the last ~2 minutes of screentime in the finale; Audrey is still in the armoury, and Nathan is still trying to live his life and rebuild Haven.

NOTES: AU divergence set after Countdown. Written for the halfamoon female characters challenge, day #6 - hurt/comfort. I was quite taken by the idea of trying to write a story with hurt/comfort tones using an all-female cast.

SUMMARY: Duke has no memory beyond the last few days and seems to be existing in a life of hard labour he's fairly sure shouldn't be his life, but things aren't all bad -- not since falling in love with the likewise-amnesiac 111, of the blue eyes and compulsively helpful nature. Duke/Nathan.
NOTES: Slightly canon divergent late season 1 setting where Audrey already knows she's immune to Troubles. Second of two mid-length Duke/Nathan fics written while I was supposed to be doing NaNoWriMo. The Trouble in this one was inspired by the Farscape episode Thank God It's Friday... Again.

NOTES: Rabbitt made a list of prompts for possible Haven AUs on Tumblr, including "steampunk AU!", and is therefore almost completely to blame for this. I said I'd draw the thing, I have no idea how this happened.
DISCLAIMER: Virtually everything I know about airships was from reading the Wikipedia entry, although I also looked at enough steampunk art after Wikipedia to conclude This Is Not About Science. In any case, please forgive historical and technological and genre gaffs (I don't actually know hell of a lot about Steampunk, either).

5x19 - Grope-zombies.

This came out of wanting to have Charlotte and Audrey central to the picture -- last chance for Charlotte and really not enough Audrey in these so far -- but also still have some humour. (And I mean, it's pretty much all there on that promo pic that was floating around, where Nathan's expression looks exactly like he's just been groped by a zombie...)

Anyway, yesterday I wasn't sure if I was going to have time to do any work on Photoshop today, and I'd only finished the menfolk, so I also saved a version with just Nathan and Dwight, which I rather like. Thus, two cartoons this week.
