I have replies to write but right now I'm just kind of flailing and feeling buried in stories to the extent that I don't know what to work on or what to do. I want to post the last two parts of 27 Years Bad Luck because I don't like having semi-posted fic hanging around but I'm just not feeling it and I'm apprehensive that people won't like the ending because it's not shippy enough. I could post chapter 7 pf Clockwork but then I won't have any buffer between Part 3, which isn't typed beyond the next one and a half chapters in, and which I'm sort of worried about, too. I'm supposed to be writing House Divided (the Eurydice sequel) for WIP Big Bang but so far I've not even typed and edited all of the 15k or so that already exists and OMG, this fic... This fic could get so complex so fast... and context for that 15k is that I'm only just into Chapter 2. I'm reasonably confident that Clockwork will get finished, with less than two chapters plus an epilogue to go, but it's happening in about 1000 word chunks at a time every few days, and that makes me unhappy and uninspired, too.
I want to post something. A finished thing. I have Pirate Trouble, which has been edited to death, but I'm still playing around with adding more scenes to the beginning that don't work, and I'd wanted Shattered out there first, but that fic is way too long to edit quickly and way too important to me to skimp on the editing. I have Fortress (OT4: oh hey, a pun), which could conceivably be edited quite quickly now that it's typed but I'm a little afraid of confusing the heck out of my beta reader who already has about 4 unfinished things of mine. If I type the last 10,000 words of it, there's A Toy Story, but that's ditto. And okay, I was re-reading some of this the other day and WOW there's a lot of sex in it. Duke/Nathan, if anyone wondered. Pinocchio is Bleeding sequel. I think there might have been a lot of sex in Pinocchio, too. Like, detailed, extended sex scenes, I mean, because Fortress has quite a few but they're not particularly long. When I think about it, there's Nexus, too, which is a het pornfest... not actually something I've written before (most of my smut is m/m or poly). All of these are NC-17. Maybe that's why they're hanging around. I tend to be less confident with the explicit stuff when I don't have the kick in the butt that writing for exchanges provides to post right now. Pirate Trouble and Shattered are consent issues heavy, too.
The other thing is I guess that a lot of these are really LONG. Shattered, Clockwork and the one I haven't mentioned, the Nano 2013 novel that I recently found a title for in It's A Troubled Life, are all novel length. Most of the rest are about 30,000 words. The shortest is actually Pirate Trouble at around ~20k.
I just need to post SOMETHING. Or preferably three somethings. That would be good. That would make me feel like I had this in hand again and could work on new things with a better focus.So I can write shorter things again and Duke/Nathan, which I am missing writing. I've been going crazy today trying to type things and just looking at all this and thinking I'm getting NOWHERE, and just so intimidated by the thought of how long it's going to take me to get anywhere if I'm picking at WIPs 1000 words at a time once or twice a week and only able to type a few thousand words before backache stumps the effort, which is a thing at the moment.
