I finished the fic last night. Only took me 4 days to write ~1300 words. Not sure about the ending, but since it has an ending, that ending can be edited, and is therefore a job for another time.
No idea when the second story arc will get written (whether it ends up being part 2 of a novel/novella or the second installment of a series) but it won't be now because I've started writing serial killer gen about Garland Wuornos and Nathan Wuornos being cops together pre-canon. Because that's a relationship I've wanted to try frame a story around since this time last year and the closest I've got so far was Dwight Hendrickson and the Tigers From Mars.
This story will be concise. Concise, fuckit. I'm tentatively saying ~15k. I am sick of everything turning into epics. If it starts misbehaving, it will get trimmed.
This is the last day (I think) that I'm going to be sat up here in the afternoons with nothing much to do except internet (escaping from downstairs and the unbearable heat because grandad has cranked the heating system up to 11 and put every plug-in electric heater in the house on as well) so maybe I'll try and get those Doyle Investigations fics up onto AO3 while I can. And stop looking at pictures of goats doing amusing things on Tumblr.
