Hmm, people talk about migrating to Tumblr. I like Tumblr. It's pretty and full of shiny things, and it makes me do visual stuff that I'd almost forgotten how to do, and pull out the drawing tablet and use photoshop, and learn whole new things like giffing. But it's a major pain in the ass for sucking up bandwidth and I can't access it in the flat because it eats all my internet allowance, and it's bloody difficult to access it here because this computer is old and slow. So it is not going to become too major a feature of my internetting yet. Just FWIW. I'm on there about every two days lately. I check dreamwidth every day. (LJ is trickier, but still not as tricky as Tumblr. I do my posting through DW crossposting these days because LJs interface is dreadful.)

I consider DW my primary platform. It's what I check everyday, it's my preferred posting space, it's where I interact most with people. This year I finally started trying to do tumblr a little more, but I pretty much don't say anything and just reblog other people's stuff. LJ is basically a hold over. I crosspost since I have a few people who I keep in touch with on LJ, but it's been through so many changes that I barely recognize it anymore. The comms on my flist there is about 5 years out of date for what I'm interested in.

I like dreamwidth but it does seem so quiet compared with Tumblr and Twitter. Neither of those platforms encourage detailed discussion or long posts, and that makes me sad. Also they're both a ferociously hard load on the computer/internet connection and that also makes me sad because it makes it difficult for me to check them. I wish they hadn't screwed up livejournal so badly. :( It's really hard to use the site now, so I just have to try to remember to check the flist occasionally and head over to individual posts to answer comments. Many of the people on the flist who still post are crossposting to dW too.

I do post different content on Tumblr and seldom crosspost between DW/LJ and Tumblr, except for fics. As a forum it just feels very different. Hm, and I'm a little bit nervous of posting adult content discussion on Tumblr that I'd happily post here, because it seems that once you're reported and labelled as a NSFW journal on there then you're off the tags for most people unless they've deliberately chosen to view adult material, which seems harsh, because it puts you in the same boat as the graphic visual porn, which I feel is hardly the same as frank discussion of slash/smut fic.
